Well its Wednesday and Ad Week V is in full swing. I must say that I am really having a blast so far as I run around from venue to venue getting interviews with the movers and shakers of the industry. The first day was really something (as you can see from the obnoxious picture Zanger took of me in a vastly under-caffeinated state of mind). The day started at about 3AM and we hit the ground running.
At seven in the morning our engineer fired up the stream and we began broadcasting over the Internet. Shortly thereafter I was handed a digital recorder, a mic and my marching orders. That’s where the fun started.
New York City cabs in the early morning are as much excitement as the rides at Six Flags. Add in the factor of the UN meeting here in the Big Apple and you can imagine what a fun ride it was.
At the other end was my first stop, a little taste of home.
For those just tuning in I am a native New Orleanain, and one who in his mis-spent youth worked in the restaurant industry while trying to get people to pay me for writing. About twenty years ago I was a back waiter. In those days I had the privilege of working for Chef Emeril .
The end point of my adventurous cab ride was an opportunity to catch up with Chef, as well as his guest Sous Chef for the day: Irwin Gottlieb of Group M!
Check it out and let me know your thoughts. I really enjoyed starting my first Ad Week by catching up to someone I have not seen (except on TV) in close to two decades.
